Sixth and final RECOBIA workshop - Management of cognitive biases in Intelligence analysis

On 20 & 21 November 2014, EUROSINT Forum & CEIS-European Office organised, at the premises of ATOS in Madrid, the sixth and final workshop in the framework of the FP7 RECOBIA project (Reduction of Cognitive Biases in Intelligence Analysis). This workshop was attended by more than seventeen intelligence professionals representing National and European Intelligence Agencies.
The objective of this workshop was to present solutions for mitigating the negative impact of cognitive biases upon intelligence activities.
During this workshop, participants were invited to discuss and comment on RECOPEDIA, the web-based tool presenting the work and research done throughout the project. This web-based tool was presented by ATOS. This presentation was followed by the presentation by HAWK of Structured Analytic Techniques as a means to mitigate the negative impact of cognitive biases upon analysis. Zanasi & Partners then presented some IT tools (serious games, data mining tools) to mitigate certain kind of cognitive biases. Finally, CEIS presented psychological mitigation strategies described by TUGraz as potential solutions.
